Face Behind Coffee Cups

It is amazing how much you can tell about people just by looking at their coffee cups. It comes in different shapes, sizes, colors and designs. Each one is telling a unique story.

First off, there are those who collect cups as a hobby. They go as far as traveling all over the world for it. It gives them a sense of accomplishment and pleasure. Back home, they are neatly arranged in a special glass cupboard for others to admire. Looking at each cup brings countless memories no amount of money can buy. Not one cup is more special than the other.

Then there are cups given to you as gifts during special occasions. Since it is so easy to buy and wrap, you can very well go ahead and start collecting and the best part is you get them for free! In this case, I suppose it is the giver that matters most. Whenever you get to use the cup a particular person has given, you remember him or her and memories you have had together as well. Such moments are priceless.

Of course, there are many other things a cup’s condition can tell us. There are cups that have stood the test of time and harsh conditions among other things. You look at a rather big piece that had been chipped off its handle and you remember that get together with your friends at home one Friday night. You all were laughing so hard you accidentally knocked it over causing it to fall on your newly polished floor. But you keep that cup still. And now you realize how long it has been since you last had a night out with those friends or simply gave them a call.

And then you see that brush of red paint on one of your cups and you recall how your baby girl, one day not long ago, decided to let out her artistic side on it. You smile as you watch that same girl all grown up, now drinking coffee herself on that very same cup!

We treasure companions in life; those who have stood by us through the years. We appreciate and thank those who have given of their time to just be with us and listen at our moments of loneliness and disappointment. In times like that, we remember a friend, a parent, a sister, a brother. There really is nothing like having meaningful talks with these special people over coffee. We do have one more to be grateful for – ever reliable coffee cups that will never ever let us down.
